Chakdaha witnessed 84.93 p.c voter turnout in the course of the 2016 Assembly election, when 1,90,047 voters exercised their franchise.
Chakdaha Assembly constituency is positioned in Nadia district and comes below Ranaghat Lok Sabha constituency.
The Assembly phase contains Chakdaha municipality; and Chanduria-I, Dubra, Ghetugachhi, Rautari, Silinda-I, Silinda-II, Tatla-I and Tatla-II gram panchayats of Chakdaha neighborhood growth block.
The CPM had received each Assembly election in Chakdaha from 1977 to 2006. In 2011, TMC’s Naresh Chandra Chakti bagged the seat by a margin of 14,099 votes, defeating CPM’s Biswanath Gupta. Kar Ratna Ghosh retained the seat for TMC in 2016 with an elevated margin of 23,653 votes.
Polling within the constituency will probably be held on 17 April, in the course of the fifth part of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election.

In the 2016 Assembly election, TMC chief Kar Ratna Ghosh received the seat with 94,241 votes. CPM runner-up Biswanath Gupta polled 70,588 votes, whereas BJP’s Pradip Kumar Sarkar bought 16,294 votes.

The 2021 West Bengal Assembly election will probably be held in eight phases. While the primary part will probably be held on 27 March, the second will probably be held on 1 April and the third will probably be held on 6 April. The dates for the remaining phases are: 10, 17, 22, 26 and 29 April. The outcomes will probably be declared on 2 May.
