President Joe Biden is in Fridley, Minn. on Monday touring a Cummins facility as the corporate introduced it would make investments $1 billion in making cleaner engines.

Cummins intends to speculate the cash in Indiana, North Carolina and New York, specializing in creating low-to-zero-carbon engines. Greater than half of medium and heavy-duty vans within the U.S. use Cummins engines, and the upgraded amenities goal to decarbonize transport autos throughout the nation.

Biden will tie the announcement in together with his Investing in America plan, a set of insurance policies that goal to spice up manufacturing within the U.S. with a concentrate on clear power.

Cummins introduced its preliminary funding in electrolyzer manufacturing on the Fridley facility in October 2022, two months after Biden signed the Inflation Discount Act. Electrolyzers are wanted to create clear hydrogen, used to energy sure autos and in metal manufacturing.
