In the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, SP Velumani of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) celebration gained the Thondamuthur seat. He gained 1,09,519 votes, as in opposition to 45,478 votes gained by his predominant rival Kovai Syed Alias Syed Mohammed MA of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi celebration.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, SP Velumani from AIADMK gained this seat in opposition to his predominant contender, Kandaswamy MN of Congress celebration.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly polls will probably be held on 6 April 2021, together with Kerala and Puducherry. The day will even see section three polls in Assam and West Bengal. The counting of the votes is scheduled for two May.
