A jury started deliberations Tuesday on the civil trial the place former President Donald Trump is accused of raping and defaming author E. Jean Carroll.
Deliberations by the nine-member jury started at 11:50 a.m. ET after Choose Lewis Kaplan gave the panel ultimate directions and a verdict type in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
If jurors unanimously decide that Carroll proved both of her claims, they are going to determine whether or not to award her financial damages.
There are six males and three girls on the jury.
Carroll, 79, alleges in a lawsuit that Trump sexually assaulted her in a dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman division retailer within the mid-Nineties. She additionally claims he defamed her final fall when he mentioned she had made up the account. Trump referred to as the allegations “a whole con job,” and mentioned that she was not his “kind.”
