New Delhi: The Italian coast guard on Monday stated that it was working to rescue two boats carrying a complete of 1,200 folks within the Mediterranean Sea, following the profitable rescue of round 2,000 folks over the weekend, reported information company AFP.
The rescue of about 800 migrants was ongoing who have been found on an overloaded fishing boat situated in Italian waters over 120 miles (190 kilometers) southeast of Syracuse, Sicily, the coast guard stated.
One other boat, which is carrying 400 folks and is within the Ionian Sea off the coast of Calabria, southern Italy, had beforehand been sighted in Maltese waters.
The operation, which concerned three patrol boats and a service provider ship, all coordinated by the “Nave Peluso” coast guard boat – was described as “complicated” as a result of overcrowding, in response to AFP.
