New Delhi: An alleged Al-Qaeda member, at the moment lodged within the high-security Tihar Jail, moved an utility for a Delhi Court on Thursday searching for permission to help the jail authorities in coping with the Covid-19 circumstances.
The accused Sabeel Ahmed, who’s a health care provider, submitted in his utility that his expertise and experience as a medical skilled could be useful in coping with the surge in Covid-19 circumstances and therapy of inmates within the central jail.
Ahmed’s advocate M.S. Khan sought a path to the jail superintendent for permitting the accused, who’s a professional MBBS physician with seven years of expertise in therapy of vital circumstances, to help the jail administration.
The utility submitted earlier than Special Judge Dharmender Rana on Wednesday stated his expertise and experience being a medical skilled could be useful for coping with the surge in coronavirus circumstances and therapy of inmates within the central jail.
“It is, therefore, most respectfully and in the interest of justice prayed that directions may be issued to the jail superintendent for allowing the accused to assist the jail administration in for medical purposes on such terms and conditions as may be deemed fit and proper,” PTI quoted the appliance as saying.
Ahmed, a member of the banned terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda within the Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS), was arrested by officers of the Delhi Police Special Cell earlier on February 22 for allegedly offering logistic and monetary help to different members of the organisation in India and overseas.
He can also be an accused within the June 30, 2007, suicidal terror assault at Glasgow Airport within the United Kingdom.
Ahmed, who was deported from Saudi Arabia on August 20, 2020, was taken into custody by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in one other terror case lodged in Bengaluru.
